Access Your PC From Anywhere
Have you ever been away from your home or office computer and needed to remotely access your computer to retrieve a file? Maybe you are experiencing a computer problem and wish someone else could see what was happening on your system so they could help you fix the problem. Possibly you wanted to share your computer desktop to discuss a project.
Remote computer access is easy with a "remote desktop" service that allows you to access your computer through the Internet from any other computer connected to the Internet. The best remote desktop service is GoToMyPC, which provides a safe and secure way for you remotely access your office or home computer just like you were sitting there.
GoToMyPC remote access service has great security features. First, you log in to the GoToMyPC.com website with a username and password. Once logged in, you then click a link to log onto your remote PC, which will then prompt you for another password. GoToMyPC also has a solution if you are concerned about others learning your password or worried the public computer you use might have a keystroke logger. Before leaving your home or office, you program in a series of up to 99 passwords that only work one time. This means even if someone learns your password or records your keystrokes, the password you used won't work again.
The benefits of remotely accessing your PC from the road are many, but the bottom line is that it enables you to use your home or office computer while traveling just like you were in your home or office. For example, while at a business meeting last week, I accessed my office computer from my laptop to retrieve a file I had forgotten.
The company that created GoToMyPC also offers a service called GoToMeeting which allows you to remotely host a meeting where multiple users collaborate on a single computer desktop. This service makes it easy to provide online training or make sales presentations.
I have tested both GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting in Cable, DSL and dial-up situations. I personally use both of these services and find them reliable and worth the price.
